BRITAIN'S COMPANIES FAIL WEBSITE TESTS

This was the title of a recent article in Computeractive, one of the UK's best selling computer magazines. The article stated that one in five small businesses do not recognise the importance consumers place on web presence. This was the finding from research commissioned by web hosting and domain name registration company 1 and 1.

latest news - digital commitmentThe study found that more than half of consumers would walk away from a business with no web presence and eight in 10 would have doubts about ever buying from that company. Small businesses with poorly designed websites could also lose sales.

Even large companies are creating websites that turn consumers off. One survey carried out by market research company Nomensa, looked at the websites of all the FTSE 100 companies. It said three-quarters of the sites were at risk of losing business because consumers find the websites hard to use. Only 24 of the 99 met the minimum standards.

With consumers thinking in this way, can you afford not to ensure you have a fully-functional and easy-to-use website online now?
